Kathleen A. Biecker - A Life of Grace and Light
Kathleen A. Biecker (Maier), aged 92, gracefully entered the presence of the Lord on September 18, 2023. She was born on July 6, 1931, in Ottawa, IL, to the late Parnell and Anna Maier. Kathy, affectionately known as "Mom," "Grandma," and "Nana," was a beacon of kindness, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her radiant smile and brilliant sense of humor illuminated the lives of those around her.
Mom's unwavering faith led her to be an active and cherished member of St. Matthew Church. She received the Woman of Year Award having dedicated herself to the St. Matthew Sanctuary Guild. She was also an active member of the National Council of Catholic Women and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
She lived by the creed of gratitude, always emphasizing the importance of focusing on the positive aspects of life rather than dwelling on the negative. Like her mother before her, Mom embraced the philosophy of "going with the flow."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by George, her loving husband of 57 years. Kathleen is survived by her loving children, Diana (Mike) Pratt, Vivian Bronstrup (John Saunders), David (Jamie), and Paul (Candace); 19 adoring grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her sister, Donna Rodgers, many nieces and nephews, and her treasured friends in the Birthday Group.
Her legacy of love and warmth will forever endure in their hearts.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Mike Proudfoot, and also to Summa Hospice, particularly Aimee, Rebecca, and Britta, for their exceptional care during Kathy's illness.
Calling hours to celebrate Kathleen's life will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, located at 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne St., Akron, OH, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
