Kathleen Margaret (Kay) Cummings (nee Oberhauser)
Kathleen passed away in her home, January 28, 2011 surrounded by all of her children after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born January 30, 1924 in Massillon, Ohio to Leo and Elizabeth Oberhauser. She was survived by six loving children: Gayle Slusser of Canton, OH, Cynthia Loudin of Canton, OH, Joni Loudin of Akron, OH, Kelly (Art) Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, Kimberly (Marc) Wood of Fort Myers, FL, and Kyle (Nicole) Cummings of Uniontown, OH; six grandchildren, Amie (Mark) Zuver of Akron, OH, Tarrah Haines (Jamie Focht) of N. Canton, OH, Nathen (Tiffany) Westfall of Akron, OH, Heather Johnson of Kennewick, WA, and Connor & Carson Cummings of Uniontown, OH; five great-grandchildren, Kayla Haines, Jack Zuver, Alexis & Abbey Westfall, and Piper Kathleen Focht; niece, Nanette (Ed) Folsom; nephews, Jon & Joel Kunkler; and sister-in-law, Nancy Kunkler. Kathleen worked at Montgomery Wards from 1972 to 1986. She also worked in the Wal-Mart jewelry department from 1997 to 2005. Kathleen was an avid reader, fantastic cook and baker. God blessed us with a loving, caring Mother for 86 healthy years. She raised six children to know the love of family. Mom was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed her loving poodle, Chanel. She enjoyed traveling to Virginia and Florida visiting family. We would like to thank Summa Hospice for helping our Mom and the family through this difficult time. Mom, we will love and miss you and hope you are feeling the "Summer Wind" now… Calling hours will be held Monday, January 31, from 5 to 7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will be held Tuesday, February 1, at 11 am with Fr. Mike Williamson officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
