Kathryn Sue Campbell (nee Smallwood) passed to The Hereafter on January 12, 2024 following a short illness. Kathy was born October 25, 1948 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to Robert A. and E. Jean Smallwood. She and her family relocated to Akron, where she graduated from Buchtel High School in 1966. She worked in several capacities during her life - including as an over-the road, long-distance driver of a semi tractor-trailer. During her travels, Kathy saw many of the most beautiful places in these United States. Kathy first married Dale E. "Rick" Parsons and raised two children: Dale "Chip" Parsons Jr (Debbie Bernadine) and Kelly White. She later married James C. Campbell and the two shared the home they built with their own hands in Edinburg Township, Ohio until Jim's passing in 2016. Kathy was a spitfire who didn't suffer fools but had a heart of gold - her kindhearted nature shining through in the manner in which she cared for and nurtured her children, her fur babies and the wildlife that she helped support wherever she made her home. She had numerous hobbies and was a very talented, creative individual.
Kathy is survived by her children, Chip and Kelly; and by her five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A number of relatives, longtime friends and associates will also lovingly remember Kathy.
Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The memorial service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Kathy's name to the animal rescue organization of their choice.
