Keith A. Caplinger
May 7, 1973 – August 16, 2009
Keith died suddenly with his son, Luke and his friend, Ryland on August 16, 2009 due to an auto accident. He was 36 years old. Keith graduated from Garfield High School in 1991 and entered the Marine Corps later that year. He completed Cannoneer school at Ft. Sill. In October '92, Keith participated in the U. S. Interdiction of Cuban boat people and the operation to secure the harbor at Port Au Prince, Haiti. He was employed as an Akron Public Works Foreman in the Street Cleaning Division for the past 12 years. Keith never said no to anyone needing an extra hand on a project whether it was assisting someone to relocate, a building project or remodeling job. He above all was the true guardian of family. No one loved their children more than Keith. He was the son all fathers long for in the maturation process. He will be sadly and always missed. He is now in place for his Final Review, Semper Fi. We love you Keith. Keith was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thelma & Howard Caplinger. He leaves to mourn, his daughters, Paige and Haley and their mother, Lynette; father, Jerry Caplinger (Deborah Rogers); sisters, Jeri (Kelly) Banks, Jennifer Caplinger and Victoria Caplinger; brother, Adam (Kristen) Leslie; uncles, David (Rebecca) Caplinger, Joe Belica, Jim Belica and Ken Belica (Lynette); mother, Joanne Jordan; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation will be Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. He will be interred with his son at Hillside Memorial Park on Thursday, August 20 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Charter One Bank in memory of Luke Caplinger.
