Kenneth D. Purk, Sr
Kenneth D. Purk, Sr, 79, of Stow OH passed away July 14, 2007. He was retired from the US Army with over 20 years of service. He served in Germany, Japan, Korea, Hawaii and Alaska. He had several awards including Soldiers Medal for Valor, two Bronze Stars, Parachute Badge, Combat Infantry Badge and Aerial Observer. He had various assignments at Fort Knox, Eustis, Sill, Lawton and Atterbury during his state side service. He retired from Goodyear Tire in 1983. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling. He is preceded in death by his wife, of 52 years, Virginia; parents Leo E. Purk, Sr and Ruth Purk (nee Anderson); son Timothy; brothers Leo E., Jr, Robert and William; sister Dora Purk. He is survived by his daughter Martha (Andy) Forsyth of Cuyahoga Falls; sons Commander Kenneth D., Jr (Donna) of the U S Navy in North Carolina, James (Janice) of Pennsylvania and Scott D (Tami) of Stow; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 21 from 3 - 4 P.M. at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N Canton Rd, Akron. Interment will be at the Lexington Memorial Cemetery in Lexington Kentucky. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, Northeast Ohio Office, 1815 W.
