Kenneth E. Ridenour, Jr.
November 24, 1949 — July 18, 2017
Kenneth E. Ridenour, Jr., age 67, went to his eternal home July 18th, at his residence in Mogadore, with family by his side.
Born November 24, 1949, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. Ridenour Sr. and Dorothy Fae (nee Daugherty) Ridenour. A 1967 graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School, he went on to Hiram College, where he was on the football and baseball team, and earned a degree in chemistry in 1971. Ken married his childhood love, Nikki (nee Duncan), August 21st 1971 and moved to Mogadore to work for General Tire in Akron as a chemist.
A faithful servant to the Lord, his passion was to study and share the Word of God with everyone he met. In his spare time Ken was an avid golfer, who recorded his first hole-in-one on the 8th hole at Windmill Lakes Golf Course in 2014. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, following the Cleveland Indians, attending Wildcat athletic events, and taking daily long walks around the town of Mogadore. He was a meticulous landscaper and a loving man with unmatched devotion to his wife and family.
Ken will be remembered fondly by all who were blessed to know him. He was a generous, kind, loving, funny, intelligent, loyal, hard-working man, who lit up a room, and was typically at the center of any fun to be had. If you knew him, you held a treasure and knew it; to not know him was a loss because you missed out on a truly genuine one-of-a kind man. Life without his presence will be forever changed for those who loved him, but comfort comes in knowing he is now with his Lord and Savior and we will be reunited with him again!
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Nikki Ridenour (nee Duncan); along with two children, Jason (Bobbi Jo) Ridenour of Salem, WV and Carrie (Chad) Hoffman of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Wesley Ridenour and Raylyn Ridenour; siblings, Laura (George) Horvath of Warren, OH and Tom (Kelly) Ridenour of Caribou, ME; and countless loving family members and devoted friends.
A memorial service will be held to honor Ken's life on Tuesday, July 25th 2017 at 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron 44305. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM.
