Kenneth S. Filler
Kenneth S. Filler, 80, of Akron, passed away June 18, 2013. Ken was born on July 1, 1932 in Rossiter, Pennsylvania to the late Ira and Bertha Filler. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He was employed for 22 years at Alside and for 6 years at Drosbach. He served as a custodian for 24 years at Tallmadge Local Schools and for 15 years at Church of the Master. He was a longtime member of Tallmadge Wesleyan Methodist Church. Over the years, Ken was very involved in local church ministries at various churches he attended with his family. He has served as a song leader, special singer, Sunday School teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lavina Joyce Juswicki; and brothers, Ira J., Wesley, and Richard Filler.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Jane Filler; sons, Kenneth R. (Leslie) Filler and Paul (Wendy) Filler; grandchildren, Paul Filler Jr., Jessica Filler, Jaret Filler, Ryan Zimmerman, and Amber Zimmerman.
Family and friends may call on Friday, June 21 from 6-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Dye officiating. Ken will be laid to rest on Monday, June 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Frostburg Cemetery in Frostburg, Pennsylvania.
