Kenneth John Schmitt, 64, of Suffield, Ohio, passed away after a long illness on September 25, 2024. Born on December 26, 1959, Ken grew up in Akron and graduated from Akron North High School in 1978. After high school, he dedicated his career to working at Prospect Mold and Die in Cuyahoga Falls, where his hard work and dedication made a lasting impression on his colleagues.
Ken was an avid sports fan, loyally supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes and cheering on all Cleveland teams, especially the Cleveland Browns. He was always ready to discuss the latest game or the next big matchup.
Family meant the world to Ken. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Penny (Ney), with whom he shared many wonderful memories. He is survived by his two children, Carl (Katy Berger) Schmitt and Sally (Bill) Koppes; step-sons, Sean (Sierra) Kiser and Matt (Beth) Murray; and his four beloved grandchildren; Anthony, Orion, Alexandra, and Lucille, siblings Fred (Eileen) Schmitt, Bill (Cheryl) Schmitt, Art (Lynn) Schmitt; brother-in-law Gene Hogue; mother-in-law Patricia Ney; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Ken in death were his parents, Fred and Lucille Schmitt, his sister, Patricia (Tisha) Hogue, and special nephew Andy Andrews, all of whom he held close in his heart.
Ken found peace and relaxation fishing on Rice Lake in Ontario, Canada, where he made countless trips over the years. He treasured the serenity of the lake and the simple pleasure of casting a line into the water.
Ken's memory will be cherished by his family and friends, and he will be remembered for his kind heart, his passion for gardening, his sense of humor, his love of sports, and his peaceful moments on the lake.
