Kevin Lance Cavanaugh

Kevin Lance Cavanaugh, 66, of Akron, passed away on December 6, 2023. He was born in Akron to the late Daniel and Jennie Cavanaugh. Kevin attended East High School and later attended the University of Akron. He was an amazing athlete in his younger days, excelling in basketball, baseball, golf, and bowling. He was also a talented musician. He played guitar in a band and his most prized possession was his collection of electric and acoustic guitars. He loved all kinds of music, but Lynyrd Skynyrd was by far his favorite band. He also loved Corvettes and traveling. Some of his best memories were made during his cross country trip with his father in their motor home, visiting countless National Parks, historical sites, and family members. He loved his family and friends as well as his beloved dog, Buddy Boy.
Kevin will be dearly missed by his brothers and sister, Mark (Brenda) Cavanaugh, Susan (Mark) Berkey, and Shawn (Melinda) Cavanaugh; nephew and nieces, Brett, Keri, Denelle, and Lauren; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Kevin's family wishes to thank his caregiver, Janet Varrecchia for helping Kevin to remain at home as long as he did. Janet was not only a wonderful caregiver for Kevin, but became a loving friend as well.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Broadway St. in Akron.
