Larry H. Cook, 79, of Akron, passed away on September 11, 2023 and is now dancing in Heaven with his wife, Mary Ann. Larry was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 16, 1944 to the late Luther and Betty Cook. Larry's family relocated to the Akron area in his youth. After high school, Larry proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years during the Vietnam era. After his honorable discharge from the service, Larry began his career in the motor carrier industry.
He was a 32nd Degree member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio for 50 years.
Larry was dedicated to his family. He was married to the love of his life, Mary Ann, for over 50 years and enjoyed his role as father and grandfather. He was always present for his grandsons' extracurricular activities and especially enjoyed karate competitions and football games. Larry had a passion for Corvettes and always had a Diet Coke in his hand. He charmed everyone and always made a lasting impression.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann.
He is survived by his children, Phillip (Sandy) Cook and Sharon Ann Cook; grandsons, Kyle (Ashley) Cook and Damian Johnson; two brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 3-5 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Larry will be privately laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg on Monday, September 18, 2023.
