Larry Johnston Sr.

Larry Johnston Sr., 77, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on August 17, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma. He was born on December 16, 1946 to the late Stephen and Evelyn {Neville} Johnston.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his granddaughter Krystle Irene Johnston and his siblings.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Donna; sons Larry Johnston Jr. (Amy), Scott Johnston (Darcy) and Dustin Johnston (Thom); granddaughter Kaitlyn (Matthew) Schrantz; great-grandchildren Mason, Olivia and Parker. 

Larry worked as a cook and baker in the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. 

Larry and Donna's love story is one for the ages. He truly knew how to sweep her off her feet, and their family became his purpose.

Larry meant everything to his family, too. He was an amazing husband, super dad and extraordinary grandfather. Larry's love spilled into his neighborhood, where he'd often be found raking leaves, shoveling snow, and helping his neighbors with home repairs. If Larry learned anything over the course of his life, it was how to show up for others. 

Larry was a man of faith, integrity and heart. He was an honest sales representative for the automobile industry, possibly the only one in the business! In his free time, he loved to fish, play darts with his sons, and spend time with fellow members at the Moose Lodge #1234 in Ravenna. He had a great sense of humor, and was quite the jokester! 

Larry will be missed dearly, but his family finds solace in the knowledge that he's just "Gone Fishin'" with The Lord.

Private military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where Larry will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
