Larry Edward Schilmiller

May 6, 1939 — January 29, 2025

Kent

Larry Edward Schilmiller, 85, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Akron, Ohio and moved to his family's farm in Brimfield, Ohio in 1950. Larry graduated in 1957 from Kent State High School, where he was class president. He played football and worked the family farm while in high school. His love of the farm continued for the rest of his life. Larry served in the National Guard, retired from Chrysler in Twinsburg after 30 years and continued farming with his wife Peach, whom he shared a strong passion for raising Morgan horses.

Larry had a natural talent with horses. He enjoyed trail riding, carriage driving and camping. Larry told many stories about the time spent driving a team of ponies with his dad around the streets of Akron plowing the sidewalks in the winter. He worked with young horses, breaking them to ride and drive. Larry was a member of the Ohio Horseman's Council and Western Reserve Carriage Association.

Larry loved spending time with his family. He made countless memories on several road trips out "west" as well as one time driving all the way to Alaska. Larry enjoyed western movies and being outside. Summer days were often spent in the fields making hay and lifelong memories were made with his family and friends who came to help. He was proud to be a farmer.

Larry will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Margaret "Peach" Schilmiller; daughter, Michele (Tim) Kline, Megan (Jason) Lenke; grandchildren, Timothy "TJ" (Emily) Kline, Chad (Brooke) Kline, Macy (Jerrod) Stout, Wyatt Lenke, Henry Lenke, Autumn Lenke, Oliver Lenke; great granddaughter, Remi Kline; lifelong friend, Doug Runkowski; many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Pearl Schilmiller; siblings, Don Schilmiller, Mary Schilmiller, Audra Fogel, Greta Miller.

Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Friendship Bible Church, 1703 State Route 44 in Randolph.
