Larry C. Waltz, 81, passed away suddenly on May 20, 2023. He was born in Salem, Ohio on September 21, 1941.
Larry was a kind-hearted loving father and husband, eager to strike up conversation with anyone he met. He will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Larry was a graduate of South East High School. He then went on to retire from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 34 years of faithful service. He proudly served his country and was a member of the 108th Army National Guard of Ravenna. Larry grew up in Deerfield where he raised ponies with his parents. He loved working on the farm, driving tractors, plowing fields and baling hay. He started driving tractors at just four years old. Being outside was one of his most favorite things. He took many vacations to Florida with his late wife, Cheryl, and only son, David. Larry also enjoyed cars. He could name the kind of car and the year just from catching a glimpse of a fender or a grille from the 40's to the 60's. He got a thrill out of driving NASCAR cars with son, David, at the Richard Petty Experience at Daytona Speedway and other tracks. Larry also greatly enjoyed going to Amish country with Cheryl and dining out. Larry was a tender and loving caregiver to his wife when she became ill. They are now together again forever.
After losing Cheryl, Larry was lucky to find a special friend in Barb, who also enjoyed road trips and dining out. His kindness and generosity will be cherished forever and she will always love him.
In addition to his parents, Clark and Hazel, Larry is preceded in death by his in-laws, Edgar and Jean Williams; and one brother-in-law, Ted Williams.
Left to cherish his memory as well as miss him dearly is his son, David (Joanne); special friend, Barb; sister, Karen; brother-in-law, Frank (Sue) Williams; sister-in-law, Karen Williams; nephew, Scott Williams (Holly); niece, Darla; as well as many other friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 10:30a.m. - 12:30 p.m. with a funeral service to follow. Burial with full military honors will occur at Hillside Memorial Park.
