Laura Anne Keys, 47, of Grant Pass, Oregon passed away suddenly on February 14, 2025. She was born on May 3, 1977, to her parents Thomas L. and Frances R. Keys (Nucciarone).
Laura was a graduate of Springfield High School, Akon, in 1995. A whiz at math and science, but terrible with spelling. She would be the first to agree. She then went on to earn a bachelor's in Biochemistry from Ohio University in 1999. She spent 26 years in her field as a Medical Lab Scientist working in Athens, Ohio and the region, Chicago, Illinois, Madison, Wisconsin, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Grant Pass, Oregon. She loved her work and where the work was, she followed.
Laura is survived by her father Thomas L. (Tracy) Keys; sister April R. Keys, and step-brother Drew Wilson; as well as several uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and colleagues. Laura is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents William O. and Helen L. Keys; maternal grandparents Albert B. and Mary Ellen E. Nucciarone, and mother Frances R. Keys, as well as several other family members.
Laura will be remembered for her love of cheddar cheese and tall trees (redwoods), Halloween and pumpkin carving, rock music and gardening, Christmas trees, and dandelions which she considered her favorite "flower”, and scary movies and teddy bears. And of course, her beloved "son" Chucky. Laura was known for her great, off-the-wall and sometimes dry sense of humor. She has a quick sarcastic wit.
Laura often like to keep to herself, loved her house and enjoyed making it pretty. Never needed to be the center of attention. She could sometimes present as stubborn or "prickly" which was all a part of her unique charm but if you were one of the fortunate few, who took the time to get to know her, you had a true friend for life. Laura was a Christian. A daughter of God. She has integrity and a strong moral compass. A brave, kind, beautiful soul with a big heart. A soul taken way too soon. She loved her friends and her family. She was the best sister anybody could ever wish for.
Laura, you will be forever loved and never forgotten.
