Laurel A. Barchalk

Laurel A. Barchalk, 70, passed away November 26, 2020 with her family by her side. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Robert and Evelyn (Titus) Deunk, she had resided in Portage County since 1968. After dealing with multiple health issues Laurie worked as a nurse at Akron City Hospital. She greatly enjoyed her pets, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.

Laurie will be sadly missed by her husband of 48 years, Mel; son, Kyle; siblings, Linda Giacomoni, Robert Deunk, Jr.; many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister; Karen Case.

Calling hours will take place Monday, December 7, 2020 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 8 at 12 noon at the funeral home. Due to Covid 19 concerns please expect to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Interment at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Laurie's name to the Portage County Animal Protective League.
