Laurie Stanovcak, age 63 of Akron, passed away on August 26, 2021.
Laurie was born on October 17, 1957 in Akron, Ohio to Robert and Rosemary (Duve) Pepe.
She graduated in 1976 from Stow High School. She had a love of karaoke and was known as "Rockin' Laurie" to many of her friends. Laurie enjoyed baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians. She was a member of FOE Post 555 in Akron. Above all, Laurie loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Brian Helsel.
Laurie is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Michael, step-children, Melinda and John Stanovcak, grandson, Wyatt Stanovcak, siblings, Denise (Neal) Pepe, Steve (Sue) Pepe and Christopher (Melanie) Pepe, nieces and nephews, Calista, Zavier, Jude, and Jenna, and a host of friends.
Friends and family may come to call on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 5-6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org.
