Lavern Fern Winstead (October 5, 1930 - November 27, 2021)
Lavern Winstead, 91, passed away November 27, 2021 at Altercare of Hartville. Born in Akron, Ohio to Jasper and Maude (Cain) Goodson, she was a lifelong Mogadore/Kent area resident. Lavern greatly enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, reading, watching cooking shows, anything that involved spending time with her family and annual trips to Myrtle Beach with her family for many years. Lavern was the most loving and dedicated mother who lived for her children and grandchildren, always putting their needs ahead of her own. Her gentle, unwavering sweet natured soul, soft spoken voice and the always present endearing smile on her face brought love and comfort to everyone around her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sons, Donald Russell (Rusty), Jeffrey and Cary Winstead; siblings, Jack, Eva, Helen, Donald, Bernard. Lavern will be greatly missed by her children, Patricia Godfrey, Gregory James (Jamie) Winstead; grandchildren, Debbie Mckelvey (Hank), Kevin Winstead, Amber Affleck (Pete), Jesse Winstead, Kyle Winstead: great grandchildren, Abel, Libby, Molly, Andy; sisters, Shirley (Carl) Adorni, Mina Goodson; daughter-in-laws, Lori Souza, Nancy Winstead.
A private memorial service will be held at a date later to be determined.
