Laverne Daisy Harris

LaVerne (Daisy Croley) Harris passed away on August 22, 2017. Preceding her in death were parents, Ulie C. and Mary Fannie Croley; son, Gary Harkless; 3 brothers, Edson C., Charles Croley and Thomas E.; sister, Kate Bennington; and granddaughter, Jennifer Harris. LaVerne retired from Roadway Express in 1976. She also worked 4 years at NRM in Tallmadge. She graduated from East High School in 1943.Her husband, Joseph Harris Jr. died in 2011. They had been married 48 years and were devoted to each other.

LaVerne is survived by sons, Ronald (Deb) Harkless, Larry Harris, Joseph Harris III (Brenda); 2 daughters, Deborah (Ron) Ashley, Anna Lovich; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother in-law, Chuck Harris; and sisters in-law, Beverly (Paul) Sutton and Roz Harris. LaVerne was an avid bowler and she was very proud of her driving record. She drove 70 years without a ticket or an accident.

Family will receive friends on Thursday August 24, 2017 from 10-12pm with the funeral service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Pastor Steve Lashbrook officiating. Interment Tallmadge Cemetery.
