Lawrence L. Braden

Lawrence L. Braden, 80, of Mogadore, passed away December 9, 2008 at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. He was born July 4, 1927 in Vienna, WV to the late John & Pearl (Carver) Braden. Lawrence served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and in the Korean Conflict and later worked for Bucky Arnes Construction Co. before retiring with 23 years of service. He coached girl's softball teams for years and in his free time enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards as time allowed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Baby Girl Braden; grandson, Kyle Phillips; brother, William Braden, sister and brother-in-law, Virginia & Dennis Buckner. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis (Coomer) Braden; children, Vickie Tyson (Vernon), John Braden (Ellen), Richard Braden (Kelly), Joan Braden and Linda Jones (Tim); 14 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 - 4 & 6 - 9 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
