Lawrence Fletcher Thornton, Jr.
Lawrence Fletcher Thornton, Jr., 75, of Lakemore, passed away December 21, 2005. Larry was born in Akron on August 30, 1930 and lived in the area his entire life. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church and was known for his willingness to help others. Larry made friends with ease, and enjoyed many lifetime friendships. He will always be remembered as a loving son, a devoted father and grandfather, a generous and caring brother, and a true and loyal friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Fletcher Thornton, Sr. and daughters, Verine Nutter and Cerine Haden. He is survived by his mother, Opal Nina Thornton; daughter, Mary Ann Tomacik; sons, Lawrence "Larry" Fletcher (Mary) Thornton III and Richard Thornton; sister, Beulah (Bob) Swope; brother, James (Pauline) Thornton; grandchildren, Stephen and Ryan Nutter, Rachel and Stacey Haden, Lisa, Sara, April Nina, and Julie Thornton, Alyssia Kellermier, and Alisha Delasandro; nephews and niece, Dale Swope, and Matthew and Leah Thornton. Family and friends may call on Monday, December 26 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Goodyear Heights Baptist Church with Pastor John Phillips officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
