Lena Ruth Bonner

May 18, 1936 — March 25, 2020

Lena Ruth Bonner of Mogadore, 83, left to join her son, James Bonner by the Lord's side on March 25, 2020.

Although born on May 18th, 1936 in West Virginia, Lena spent most of her life in Mogadore with her husband of 67 years, Ellery Bonner. The two of them planted roots and started to build a beautiful family of four children, which has now grown into generations of people who loved her, as everyone who met her did.

Lena was known by all for her endless kindness, big heart, her selflessness and her complete devotion to her family. It's who she was. But that's not all she was known for. To her friends and family, she was also a fierce competitor. Whether it be bowling with friends, her love for the casino, poker with family or board games on the holidays, she was ready to win. In fact, the only time you didn't want to sit next to her is when you were playing against her in poker or a game of Aggravation, because it put you in range of her playful smacks. Other than the fact that she loved to play and win, she loved spending that time with her family... even if it was spent yelling at them for sending her marbles home in Aggravation.

Lena loved to laugh and had a sense of humor that never went away. Whether she was talking to her family or yelling at the Indians on the TV, she always had a sharp witty reply and it usually ended up somehow finding its way in the direction of her husband, no matter the topic. Her laugh will never be forgotten and will ring happily in the ears of everyone who knew her, forever.

She was the epitome of a family woman. She wore the titles of wife, mom, sister, aunt, cousin and grandma better than most people ever could have dreamed. She showed endless love to everyone and was the backbone to the family she helped build. Lena had a long full life surrounded by those who loved her and she loved collecting angels and roses. She retired after a career she loved at the Mogadore Post Office and spent the rest of her life in love with being a grandmother, a job in which she excelled. Nothing made her heart overflow like holding a new great grandchild in her arms for the first time.

Lena is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ellery Bonner. She is also survived by her sisters Faye Fischer and Babe Parks. Her legacy will forever live on in her children Barb (Buddy Morgan, David (Denise) Bonner and Sue Bonner. The grandchildren who loved her and the great grandchildren that loved their "GG".

She can finally rest and be reunited with her son, Jimmy. We all love you and know you'll be watching over us.

The family would like to appreciate everyone who has had kind words and support through this very difficult time. We also ask that everyone remain patient as we will not be holding a memorial service at the moment due to the unique pandemic circumstances. We plan on a celebration of life with those who are interested in celebrating this wonderful woman, once everyone is safe to do so.
