Leona J. Gross, 87, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2011 at Summit Villa Care Center. She was born and lived all her life in Akron. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents; sister, Florence; and son, Daniel. She is survived by her son, James M. Gross (Phyllis); daughters, Jeanette Sullivan (Kenneth) and Joyce Johnson; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She also left behind her beloved cat, Neko. Leona was past president many years at the Mogadore Women's Auxiliary VFW 8487 and she served as VFW Ohio District 8 Portage County president. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Summit Villa for their compassionate care throughout her illness. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
