Leona M. Cook
Leona M. Cook, 83, went home to be with the Lord on July 22, 2009 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple and retired as a waitress. Leona traveled the United States and Canada extensively after she retired. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 23 years, Barney; and three brothers. She is survived by her sons, Darryl (Julie) Cook and Bill (Mary Anne) Worsnop; granddaughters, Holly and Laura; one great-grandson; special friend, Ray Neill and his daughter, Janet Holvey; and The Ladies Group from the Akron Baptist Temple. Calling hours will be Monday, July 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ernie Kemppel officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
