Leonard F. Elliott
Leonard F. Elliott, 86, died peacefully April 6, 2009. Leonard served in the Army Air Force and upon his return, worked in the Wilhite family painting business. He became an avid golfer with his wide circle of golfing buddies. Leonard is survived by Helen Edwards, his loving companion of almost 50 years. He is also survived by her daughters Judy Cook (Don) and Julie Westfall (Jim), whom he raised as his own. Julie's son, Jimmy Westfall (Beth) gave him Marissa and Cheyenne who were the joy of his life. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Lena Elliott; his aunt Violet Brown; his brother Edwin Elliott; also, his childhood friend, Ally Chetto and many other friends. Leonard devoted his life to caring for his parents, aunt and brother in their senior years. Leonard's last years were devoted to caring for Helen whose smile was his happiness. Leonard also leaves his extended family which includes Jim and Barbara Wilhite and their children Danny, Judy, Jimmy Jr., Anita, Crissy, Angela, and Eddy. Also, Marjorie Allwood and her sons David and Ricky Murdock. He leaves friends Allyn and Nicki, who along with David and Ricky, were by his side in his final hours. Calling hours will be Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, 4724 State Rd., Peninsula. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Akron Humane Society.
