Lester F. Scherer, Jr.

Lester F. "Jake" Scherer, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2021. Born in Roscoe, Ohio on October 23, 1942 to Lester and Mary (Hardesty) Scherer, he resided in the Akron area all of his adult life. Jake graduated from Roscoe High School and then joined the U. S. Army. He later worked in aircraft services at B. F. Goodrich, where he retired after many years. He enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets, as well as talking to people at the gambling hall that he liked to frequent.

Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years in 2019, Lessie June (Greer) Scherer, he leaves behind adult children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

His funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2001 at 10:00 am at St. Matthew Church in Ellet. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Military honors will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
