Lewis Paul Beck, age 79, passed away on October 13, 2007 at Akron City Hospital. Born in Monticello, Kentucky, Paul's family moved to Akron in the early 1940's. As a teen, Paul worked many jobs and still found time to become one of the area's best bowlers. He later joined the Air Force for 3 years, serving in Europe, then in 1950 began his career at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. After retiring in 1991, he was able to enjoy his family, his car, and an occasional trip to the casino. Preceded in death by his parents Ina and Robie; brother John; and sister Charlene. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julia; son Roger and his wife Sherri; and grandsons Justin and Christopher. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. where at Funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 330-784-3334.
