Lillian Mae Pierce, died suddenly June 27, 2008 at Akron General Medical Center. Preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Elizabeth Ater; husband, Perry; and infant son, William. Left to mourn their loss, son, Robert (Roseanne); daughters, Betty, Linda (Jake), Sandra (Ellis), Deborah and Penny; grandchildren, Jim (Robin), Jason (Debbie), Jennifer (Shon), Joshua, Mindy, Aaron (Tammy), Michael, Jonathan, Katy, Joe, Cassandra, Doniella, Joey and Nicholas; 8 great-grandchildren and number nine on the way; dear friend, Peggy Thorla. Words cannot express how blessed we were to have such a special woman as our mother, grandmother and friend. We all felt how deeply she loved us. Lillian was a faithful follower of Jesus, always giving of herself unselfishly, humbly, and with great humility to all those who were in need of a kind word. Lillian was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Redeemer UMC "Feed My Sheep" program. She volunteered each Monday and Thursday at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital where she was affectionately known by all as "The Butterfly Lady." Lillian was previously employed by Woolworth's and State Jewelers. She was a member of AARP Chapter #2249 and Cuyahoga Falls Hospital Guild. "Mom, not one of us was ready to let you go, but we find comfort in knowing you are with our Heavenly Father." Calling hours will be Sunday, July 6, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Calvary Baptist Church, 820 White Pond Dr., Akron with Pastor Doug Shoup officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery. If you so desire, please make a contribution of time, money or prayers to those less fortunate.
