Linda S. Ormiston
Linda S. Ormiston, 51, died May 27, 2008 after living with cancer for 4 years. Linda was born March 17, 1957, to Donald & Billie (Dean) Ormiston in Columbus, Ohio. She grew up in Dayton and Oxford, Ohio. Linda was a spelling bee champion and a 1975 graduate of Talawanda High School in Oxford. She earned an associate degree in applied business from the University of Cincinnati, a bachelor's degree in German from Miami University, and a master's degree in educational media, also from Miami. Linda was employed by Miami University for 15 years, starting as a secretary in the provost's office and eventually becoming managing editor of an academic journal. In 1997 Linda moved to the Akron area to work on her creative writing and other projects. Linda was predeceased by her father and her grandparents, Ray and Gladys Dean, William and Helen Ormiston. She is survived by her mother, of Akron; brother, Steven Ormiston and his wife, Patricia, of Oxford; nephews and niece, Michael, Gregory, and Lesley Ormiston; great uncle and aunt, Carl and Lenna Dean, of Akron; and cousin Janet Walsh, of Akron. Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours or services. Inurnment at Hillside Memorial Park.
