Linda S. Turner

Linda S. Turner, 56, went home to be with her Lord on Oct. 29, 2023. She was born July 2, 1967 in Barberton, OH to the late James and Ruth (Garrison) Turner.
She graduated from Kenmore High School in 1985, where she played the clarinet in the marching band. She had fond memories of the two trips to Florida with the band and the many half-time shows that they performed under the direction of John Rodgers.
Linda began her working career at Village Chalet restaurant, and then moved on to Kauffman's at Rolling Acres Mall. She also worked at Walmart and then at Goodyear, before settling in last October to her dream job at Christian Healthcare Ministries. She was blessed to finally find the job where she could use her people skills.
Linda was a former member of the Akron Baptist Temple and was currently attending City Church A/C. Starting at a young age, she loved visiting the elderly from the church and being an encouragement to them.
Linda is survived by her brother, James Jr., and sisters, Patricia and Donna Turner; uncles, Clifford and Martin Garrison of Myrtle Beach , SC and aunt, Marjorie Garrison of Buzzards Bay, Mass. And many family, friends and children of her heart.
Linda enjoyed biking, swimming, golfing, and walking her dog around the neighborhood and on the beach. When her father passed away in 2007, Linda took over the job of feeding the birds and the squirrels. She enjoyed working with the roses and could not wait for them to bloom. She will be missed by her pets, Dakota (cat) and the family dog, Bella.
Her life verse - Psalm 46-10 - "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth,"
Friends may call Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 pm with the service at 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) with Pastor Dallas Billington and Pastor Ernie Kemppel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to City Church AC for the new building project, 3000 Krebs Drive, Akron, Ohio 44319, in memory of Linda.
