Lois Anne (Knode) Powers, age 85, followed her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to her heavenly reward on August 1, 2013, after a 14-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born on January 28, 1928 in Fairmont, West Virginia, to the late Edgar M. and Minnie (Null) Knode. She gave her heart to Christ as a 16-year-old teenager in 1944, at Morgantown First Church of the Nazarene, and served her Lord faithfully throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William H. Powers, to whom she was married for 61 years.
Mrs. Powers graduated from Morgantown (WV) High School in 1946 and moved with her husband to Akron, Ohio to serve her church, husband, and raise a family. She was employed and retired from Fotomat, Inc. She was a member of Church of the Nazarene for 69 years, most recently at Southeast Church of the Nazarene in Tallmadge, Ohio. Her lifelong passion was for Nazarene World Missions, leading her church's local chapter for 30 years.
She loved to sew, can vegetables, freeze jam, sing in the choir, organize funeral dinners and other church functions, talk to Mary on the phone, and listen to "Howie" every day. She used her many talents and gifts to touch the lives of others.
