Lois M. Lewis, 83, passed this life peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Lois was born on January 9, 1928 to Theodore and Onnie Trexler in Akron. Most of her life was spent in Akron, growing up in Goodyear Heights. She graduated from East High School in 1947. Five months later she married Phillip Lewis. They were married 63 years in January. In 1953 she gave birth to her son, Gary and dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife and mother. She was employed at Dutt's Drug Store, then Winkleman's before retiring from First Virginia Bank, having lived in Alexandria, Virginia for 10 years. She was a board member of Community Baptist Church of Tallmadge where she volunteered her time to many functions and activities. She excelled at needlework and many people have been recipients of her creations. She was always looking to make life fun and was not reluctant to pull a gag on a close friend or family member. Lois is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Rayford and Wilford Trexler; and sister, Mattie Lou Woodrum. She will be missed by her husband, Phillip; son, Gary (Sandy); two granddaughters, Jill and Maren; four great-grandchildren, Dade, Taylor, Natalie, and Elizabeth; and many family and friends. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where visitation will be held Saturday from 10-11 followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service with Sheila Hershberger officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Baptist Church of Tallmadge.
