Lois "Jean" Whetsel, age 88 of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, went into the presence of the Lord on June 27, 2023.
She was born on June 9, 1935 in Ligonier, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (nee Graver) Palmer.
Other than her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Larry D. Whetsel; her grandson, Jim Dennis; and siblings, George Palmer, Nellie Crowe and Dort Lynn.
Jean is survived by her four children: Larry E. Whetsel (Patty), Boni (Troy), Dave Whetsel (Rose Reitz), and Marci Achmoody (Brian); 5 grandchildren: Shawn Whetsel (Carly), Chad Whetsel (Paulette), Laura McCoy (Jonathan), Sarah Whetsel, and Emma Achmoody; 8 great-grandchildren: Corbin, Noah, Addy, Sapphire, Zander, Brady, Clay, and Lizzy; her sister, Effie Horner (Tracy); in-laws: Jim Lynn, Dick Crowe and Diana Siegenthaler (Bill); and many nieces and nephews.
Jean married her late husband, Larry D. Whetsel in 1955 and moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1962 where she lived most of her life. Jean worked with her neighbors at the local voting place for many years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Tallmadge, singing in the choir and performing duets with her husband. She assisted on the benevolence and the finance committees, worked at JoAnne's Pantry, and actively participated in Harvesters and small group Bible studies. Jean enjoyed southern gospel music, reading her Bible, crocheting scrubbies, playing cards and games, trips with her sisters, and most of all spending time with her family, especially at the families' cabin in PA.
Jean was at peace leaving her children and grandchildren joining her husband and loved ones in Heaven. The family will have a private celebration of life and her cremated remains will be inurned with her husband in a special way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson's Foundation or Alzheimer's Association. There will not be any public services.
