Londa Whittaker Mick

Londa Whittaker (nee Carr) Mick passed away December 15, 2022, after a long illness. Born February 18, 1949, to parents Harry and Maxine (Heckler) Carr, she lived most of her life in the Akron, OH, and Parsons, WV, areas.
Londa was affectionately known as 'Miss Londa' to many of her friends and caregivers at Altercare Western Reserve in Stow, Oh, and 'Nanny' or 'Nan' to many of the children and adults she's met across her years. Caretaking was something she did well. She had a special way of making those around her feel welcome due to her gentle spirit and gracious demeanor. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, crafting, Victorian style/ design, voluminous hair styles, music (especially singing the praises of her Lord God) and cherishing her much-adored pets. In addition, she loved to SPARKLE! A shimmer here, some sequin there, blingy jewelry…it brought her a lot of joy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter, Martina Cordi, sisters Cheryl Lansberry and Mari Jane Barkley, and brother Mikey Carr. She will be sadly missed by daughter Rece (Mike) Schnee, brothers Russ (Wanda) Carr, Tommy (Tammy) Carr and Dick (Chris) Carr, grandsons Derek (Kate) Sheppard, Nick (Jessica) Sheppard and Kasey Sheppard, great-granddaughter Penny, along with many nieces and a nephew.
Per her wishes, cremation has already taken place. The family will have a gathering to honor Londa's life at a later date. Those who wish may make a memorial donation in Londa's name to St. Jude's hospital or your local animal shelter.
