Loraine Beard (Nee Hughes)

Loraine Beard (Hughes), passed away peacefully on May 5, 2013.

She was 88. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent countless hours as a volunteer for Akron Children's Hospital and she was a dedicated Elletian, serving on the alumni committee until health intervened. She loved to spend time with her family including her grandchildren and more recently her great-grandchildren. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and watching the games with her great-grandson was her favorite past time. Loraine was an active member of Oak Hill Church as well.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Donald and her great-grandson Nicholas.

She leaves to cherish her memories her sons and their wives Douglas (Jennifer), Jeffrey (Cecily) and Mark (Beverly). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Dan (Melissa), David, Jim (Elizabeth) Beard, Julie (Kristofer) Kupper, Lindsay (Mike) Glover, Andrew Beard, Jenna (John) McElroy, Joni (James) Gilman, and Jason (Amanda) Beard. She will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren Laura, Michael, Olivia, Kathryn and Abigail Kupper, Shane Stineman-Beard , Ben, Katie, James, and Emily Glover, Jake and Easton Beard, Rylan McElroy and Ella Beard.

There will be a memorial service honoring her on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Oak Hill Church 2406 Ardwell Ave Akron, Ohio 44312, Pastor Brian Nutt officiating. Instead of flowers donations may be sent to Oak Hill Church 2406 Ardwell Ave Akron, Ohio 44312.
