Lorna M. Norton

Lorna M. Norton, 76, of Akron, passed away peacefully after a long illness surrounded by her family on November 21, 2023. She was born in Akron, Ohio on February 8, 1947 to the late Ralph and Leona Hershberger.
Lorna spent most of her career in the asphalt industry, working for Thomas Asphalt and McCourt Construction over the years. She retired from Local Union 894 after over 20 years of service.
Lorna had many interests, but her passion was butterflies of all sorts. She had a large collection of butterfly artwork and figurines throughout her home. Everyone who knew Lorna will miss her great sense of humor and sarcastic wit. She loved being a mother and Nana - family was everything to her.
Before her passing, Lorna rededicated her life to Christ. While we miss her now, we know we will be reunited in Heaven some day.
Lorna is survived by her children, Ron Norton and Lorri (Germaine) Lillard; grandchildren, Alicia Norton, Tazia Lillard, Seth (Kim) Burkey, Cassia Lillard, Devin Norton, and Nathan Lillard; siblings, Tom (Elizabeth) Hershberger, David P. Hershberger, Rickey (Brenda) Hershberger, and Vickey Futrell; many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff at The Briarwood in Stow as well as Crossroads Hospice Care for going above and beyond in the care of our mom.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 5 - 7 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. memorial service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. She will be privately laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield at a later date.
