Louise Capotosto

Louise moved to Akron at the age of 21, married Salvadore Capotosto in 1934, and raised five children. Her husband Salvadore passed away in 1952. In 1953, Louise started her business, Louise's Drapery Shop, and was in business for 35 years until she sold the shop in 1979 at age 70. She continued to make draperies in her home, and she still loved to sew into her early nineties. He great achievement at the age of 86, was making all of the draperies for Grace Cathedral in 1995. The draperies are beautiful blue and gold made of approximately 3,000 yards of slipper satin. Slipper satin is the same material that is used to make wedding dresses. The gold took three months to make and the blue took two months. It took Louise and her sister, Margaret Huff, three years to complete the job. She was preceded in death by her son, Dino Capotosto. Louise is survived by her son, Ornell Capotosto and wife, Marg of Cuyahoga Falls; daughters, Gloria Starkey and husband, Bob of Henderson, Nevada, Loretta Flaherty and husband, Jack of Grass Valley, California, and Joanne Capotosto of Akron; daughter-in-law, Rose Capotosto of Akron.
