Lucille M. Warters
Lucille M. Warters, 50, passed away peacefully at her parent's home on December 19, 2011 after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer. She graduated from Copley High School in 1980, and received her Bachelors Degree in Parks and Recreation from Hocking Tech, and her degree from Ohio University in Photo Journalism. She began her photography career with O'Neils Dept. Store, and then with Sibley's in Rochester, NY. She then went to work as the archival photographer at Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY for seven years. After returning to Ohio, she took a position as an administrative assistant at Ernst & Young where she worked continuously throughout her illness. One of her joys was taking "Sandy", her sister's dog, for weekend walks at the park with her fellow Big Dog Club friends. She was an avid crocheter, and a long time donator of Apherises with the Red Cross giving over 150 pints before becoming ill. Lucille is survived by her parents James and Joan; brother William (Rita); sister Kathy; nephews Brian, James, and Brandon; and uncle Robert (Kathleen) Dickerson. The family would like to thank her dear close friends Maryann, Barbara, and Leslie who always gave her tremendous support. A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, December 27, from 1 to 3 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service celebrating her life will follow at 3 pm with Pastor Zac Derr officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Cross or the American Cancer Society. A special thank you to the wonderful people at Cooper Cancer Center, at Akron City Hospital.
