Luke passed away unexpectedly, at the young age of 12, on August 16, 2009, along with his father, Keith Caplinger and friend, Ryland Reel. Luke was a lifelong resident of Akron. He attended Hyre Middle School in Ellet where he was a proud member of the Ellet Raiders Football Team. He was "all boy", strong and athletic and the pride of his family. He was an avid Yankees fan. Luke leaves to mourn, his mother, Lynette, who will hold him in her heart daily and forever; two sisters, Haley (John Decker) and Paige; brother, Kaylem who loved him very much; loving grandparents, Judy & Denny Wilson, Tom & Susan Rhoades and Jerry (Deborah Rogers) Caplinger; great-grandmothers, Joy Rhoades and Agnes Fowler; special uncles and aunts, Chad Rhoades (Emily), Marlo Nighman (Jim), Jeri (Kelly) Banks, Jennifer Caplinger, Victoria Caplinger, Adam (Kristen) Leslie and Bryon Konvolinka (Christine); many cousins and friends, Damion, Adam, Dante, Vince and Blake. A friend to many, he will be sadly missed. "Mommy will love you forever; you'll always be my Moo-Moo." The family would like to thank the Ellet community, with special thanks to Ellet youth football for all of their support. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday at St. Matthew Church. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Charter One Bank in memory of Luke Caplinger.
