Luther E. "Bud" Dye, 64, passed away August 16, 2009 peacefully in his sleep at home with loved ones. He was born in Massillion, Ohio and lived most of his life in Akron. Luther was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had 29 years service at Teledyn Monarch Rubber Co. as well as 15 years of service at North American Molded Products. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and his son, Brian; and sisters, Linda Kay Mellinger and Betty L. Blankenship. Luther is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Pat; son, Donny and his wife Diana; special niece, Melodie Liston; special nephew, R. C. Liston; sister, Dorothy Jean Beaver; and numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, August 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Pat Beers officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
