Lyle M. Shaffstall

Lyle M. Shaffstall, age 92 of Akron, Ohio, died on January 30, 2022 at Akron City Hospital.

He was born on November 8, 1929 in Rocky Grove, PA, the son of the late Wallace Lyle and Vera (nee Dingman) Shaffstall.

Lyle graduated from Rocky Grove High in 1947, worked in finger printing for the FBI and joined the US Marine Corps in 1948. He served and was honorably discharged from the Marines, serving during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, he graduated in 1954 from Tri-State College in Indiana with a Bachelors Degree in chemical engineering and worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber from 1955- 1985.

He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Akron for over 60 years. He was also active in the Masons and Yusef-Khan Grotto.

Lyle enjoyed hiking, camping and gardening, however his greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include his two sons, John Shaffstall of Bradleytown, PA and Jeffrey Shaffstall with whom he lived; and many kind neighbors and friends.

Lyle was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Clarice Serahn, on August 26, 2010, they were united in marriage on July 5, 1958; and his sister, Leah Mae Shaffstall.

There will be memorial services held on February 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 158 North Avenue, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278, where friends and family may visit from 10:00 AM - until the time of the service.
