Lynda Danelle Smart-Somerville was born to parents Daniel Lawrence Smart and Narcissus Parthena Smith-Smart (both deceased), August 29, 1944. She was the second born of four daughters. Her siblings include: Jerilynn Marie Smart-Deadwyler (deceased)/husband, John T. Deadwyler, Diane Elizabeth Smart-Pickett, Patricia Gaye Smart (of Maryland). Lynda and her ex-husband, Bruce Marcus Somerville were the proud parents of three children: Brian David Somerville (wife Pamela), Stephen Bruce Somerville and Lesa Renee Somerville (deceased).
As a child and, throughout her later years, Lynda enjoyed traveling, especially to the Church of God's
annual Campground Meeting in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania. Just prior to her illness, Lynda visited Harriet Tubman's Park and Memorial Building in Talbot County, Maryland. She gave her heart to the Lord over 50 years ago and was a devoted member and longtime usher at the Arlington Street Church of God until she could no longer attend services.
Lynda grew up in East Akron, Ohio, attended and graduated from East High School. She also trained and worked as a Nurse's Assistant working at St. Thomas Hospital as well as Middlebury Manor Nursing Home and as a school nurse at Copley Elementary School, in Akron. She always enjoyed working with and nurturing children and was a loving mother and "Grandma Lynda" to her own grandchildren.
Approximately four years ago, Lynda discovered that she had a brain tumor. It was benign and, successfully removed however, the tumor caused other degenerating trauma to her body. Lynda so loved going to church, listening to gospel music and time with her nephews, nieces and grandchildren. Many wonderful times were had during family get-togethers with her sisters and grands and baby sitting the little ones! Lynda is to be commended for her devotion to our father, Daniel Smart, whom she faithfully cared for during the final years of his life.
When Lynda was asked what she wanted to do in life she simply said, "I want to be somebody's wife and somebody's mother." Little did she know that her legacy would be a rich one blessed with many relatives and friends!
She leaves to celebrate her life: eight Grand children, Robert Bruce Somerville, Terrance Somerville (and wife Hauna) of Cincinnati,
Cierra Somerville, Brittany Somerville-Johnson (husband, Nate Johnson), Brian Somerville II; two Nieces, Kimberly D. Deadwyler (deceased), and Aira P. Pickett; two Nephews, John L. Deadwyler, and Jason D. Pickett; eight Great-grandchildren, Elijah Somerville, Remi' Somerville, Ayanah Somerville, Mikaylah Somerville, Kai' Somerville, Dionta, Zachary Johnson and Zoe Johnson; one great-nephew Great Nephew, Grayson Pickett; Dear Friends Frances Somerville and Mike Humphreys and; A host of cousins and additional family members
Lynda succumbed to her illness at 7:33 a.m., on Monday, December 27, 2021. She is now free from care or want and is alive forever, in His heavenly kingdom. Amen
