Lynda E. Underwood

Lynda E. Underwood, age 81 of Deerfield, Ohio, died on December 7, 2022.

She was born on June 20, 1941 in Oneida, New York, the daughter of the late Lynn J. and Daisy (nee Wood) Thorp.

Lynda was a machine operator at Ferriot Brothers in Akron for many years before retiring. She liked to craft, especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo. Lynda was a doting and loving mother to her children and extended family, and loved hosting their 4th of July picnics with the Underwood family and friends.

Lynda was a member of Community Life Church in Mogadore, Ohio.

Lynda was a huge supporter of the Special Olympics, where her daughter, Sylvia, participated.

Survivors include her children, James E. Cuvelier, Sylvia Cuvelier, Sheri (Enrique) Layton and Edward "Eddie" (Brenda) Cuvelier; her nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Freda H. Thorp.

Other than her parents, Lynda was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Underwood on September 30, 2022, they were united in marriage in August of 1993; her daughter-in-law, Wilma Cuvelier; her great-grandson, Waylon Cuvelier; her brother, Clarence Thorp; and her sister, Nina Cain.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM, where Pastor Gordon Hayberg will celebrate Lynda's life, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44305.

Lynda will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron.

Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 5:00 - 700 PM.
