Mabel Eileen Cole (Hoffman, Patrick)
Mabel Eileen Cole, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 at the age of 69 of lung cancer. She was born in Akron, Ohio in 1938 as the youngest of 7 children. She attended East High School and worked at Akron Towel & Supply, Tasty Bakery, Tru-Foto and US Gasket & Shim Company. Primarily a homemaker, she loved working around the house and yard and in her flower gardens. She received many Akron Beautification Awards for her lovely flowers. She loved animals big and small especially cats, and her Stinky Kitty was her baby. Preceded in death by parents, Andrew & Myrtle Hoffman; brothers, Albert, Ray and Richard; sisters, Alice and Molly. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe; daughter, Linda Pownell; and many nieces and nephews. Mom loved the color green, Lilys of the Valley, music and playing Nancy Drew mystery games on the computer. Her illness was long and very difficult. Countless people were involved in her care and family support. I would like to thank everyone involved for their love, patience, prayers and support with special thanks to the following people: niece, Rhonda Kane, special friends, Bill Lindsey, Frank Vitarelli, Ray Patrick and Gladys Parsons, Dr. Michael Hill, Dr. Makar, Hospice of Summa especially Tom Hoffman, Vickie Hoffman and Reverend Michael Shaub, Lena's Home Care staff and family, Summa Home Health Oncology Nurses, Nursing staff of 7W at Akron City Hospital, neighbors Tom and Denise and family and Larry and Charlene. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a memorial service will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Shaub officiating.
