Magdaleen "Maggie" (Owens) Flynt
Magdaleen "Maggie" Flynt, of Akron, OH, went home to be with the Lord at 91 years old, on December 14, 2016. Maggie was born on November 25, 1925 in Fayetteville, TN. She grew up working on the farm, taking horse and buggy rides into town on Saturday's with her dad, playing basketball with her friends and falling in love with James, the boy next door. Maggie and James were married and began their lives together, which included having four beautiful children and moving to Akron, OH. Maggie always said her biggest accomplishment in life was her family.
She was greeted in Heaven by her late husband, James Flynt, her son, Jerry Flynt and her daughter, Carol Montis. She leaves behind her daughter, caretaker and best friend, Kathy (Lynn) Evans, her loving and doting son, Michael (Sandy) Flynt, her special daughter in-law, Becki Haller and son in-law, John Montis. Maggie also leaves behind her 8 grandchildren; Cindy (Steven) Beckler, Steven (Marilou) Montis, Michelle Bower, Nathan (Joannie) Flynt, Jennifer (Matthew) Fox, Dustin (Trisha) Vitrano, James (Brittany) Montis and Kimberly (Matthew) Beech and her 15 great-grandchildren; Kourtney, Kyleigh, Aubrey, Kendall, Grant, Caroline, Madison, Ronan, Tristan, Payton, Xavier, Dakarai, Emily, Lola and Leo that she loved more than life itself. She was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Whether it was hosting holidays at her home or family picnics at Wingfoot, she would always be sure to make her famous rice krispies treats for her grandkids. Maggie had a love for gardening and flowers and was truly blessed with a green thumb. She loved anything to do with being outside, including taking long walks around the neighborhood waving to everyone she passed by, raking her leaves and sitting on the porch.
She also had a tremendous love of animals, giving many dogs and cats an amazing home over the years. She was a faithful member of The Arlington Baptist Chapel and The Chapel of Prayer, loving her church family as her own. Maggie will always be remembered for her unbelievable strength, beautiful smile, contagious laugh and find heart. If you knew Maggie, you fell in love with her instantly. She always put others before herself and her God has surely greeted her with open arms saying, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Summit Villa who loved and cared for Maggie for the last almost four years of her beautiful life.
Family will receive friends on Monday December 19, 2016 from 10-11am with the funeral service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Rev. Sherman L. Bailey officiating. Interment Hillside Memorial Park.
