Malinda F. Wheeler, 85, passed away on December 20, 2006. She was born in Kenova, West Virginia and lived most of her life in the Springfield/Ellet areas. She retired from Akron public schools where she worked as a cafeteria cook. She was a long time member of Springfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Malinda is survived by her daughters, Donna (Larry) Teeling of Akron, Vicki (Ronnie) Starcher of Akron, and son, Raymond (Jackie) of Ravenna; brother, Harry (Karen) DeLong of New London and sister-in-law, Elsie DeLong of Akron. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Carlyle H. Wheeler; father, E.H. DeLong; mother, Alice Williams; brother, Oliver DeLong; and sister, Reba Szaraz. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. with visitation from 11-1 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., with Pastor Larry Baldridge officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Springfield Baptist Church.
