Marcia L. Swanson
August 18, 1934 — February 10, 2017
Marcia L. Swanson woke up in glory and found it home on February 10, 2017. Her Lord and Savior Jesus greeted her with "Well done good and faithful servant."
Marcia was born in Parma, Ohio on August 18, 1934 to Vincent and Laverne Mungillo. She graduated from Parma High School, attended Case Western University and graduated from St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College) in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota.
For twenty years she was the librarian at Chapel Hill Christian School. Her great joy was reading stories to the younger children and teaching library skills to the older students. She also taught Bible lessons and stories for chapel services at the school. Marcia served for many years in the Junior Church department at Chapel Hill Church. In retirement, she served as librarian at Timothy Academy in Skopje, Macedonia, for two years and during that time she catalogued 3,500 books.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James; two daughters, Pamela (Stuart) Song of Tuscon, AZ, and Cynthia (Alek) Tomachev of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; grandchildren, Stephanie, Rachel, and Nathaniel Song, and Predrag, Magdalena, Stefan and Anastasia Tolmachev. She is also survived by sister, Connie (Paul) Kidder of Westminster, MD; brother, Vincent (Dolly) Mungillo of Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Summa at Home hospice care team for their help and support during this time.
Calling hours will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Hill Church, 1160 Howe Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, OH with Pastor John Wilson officiating at 11am on Thursday, February 16, 2017 with calling hours one hour prior to service. Interment to follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Chapel Hill Christian School Endowment Fund at 1639 Killian Rd., Akron, OH 44312.
