Margaret Helen "Totsy" Cunningham
Totsy, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and faithful Christian passed away on June 3, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's and other complications.
Totsy was born in Akron, Ohio, on September 11, 1930, the second child of Dorothy and Jack Looney. She lived most of her life in Akron, Ohio, with her husband of 63 years, John T. "Jack" Cunningham. After her children grew up she got the job of her dreams. She was employed by the Akron Board of Education to work with very troubled children, who, if you listened to her, were great kids who just needed kindness and love. To no one's surprise, that is exactly what she gave them.
Totsy was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Jack. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Jack; her son, Jeffrey and his wife, Deborah; her daughter, Rebecca and her husband Michael (Cerio); her daughter, Kelly and her husband, Ronald (Lance); her seven granddaughters, Emily, Sophie, and Anna Cunningham; Marie Cerio and Bianca Cerio Tinsley and her husband, Paul Tinsley; Jordan and Sydney Lance; and her great-grandson, Cooper Tinsley. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Gene Looney; loving nieces, nephews, friends, and her faithful dog, Missy.
Totsy was loved by many and a woman who loved back with all of her heart. She was a great Christian lady who loved Jesus and lived out her salvation. She also helped to build the Akron Baptist Temple from the first building to the last. Her family and friends are comforted by her memory, that of a loving woman and a great friend. Finally, to her granddaughters and great-grandson, your "Beautiful Gigi" loved you with all her heart and will forever.
Visitation will be Sunday June 9 from 2-4 followed by a 4:00 p.m. memorial service with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Totsy will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
