Margaret L. (Bird) Mullins
Margaret L. "PeeWee" Mullins, 96, died August 25, 2017. Margaret was born July 24, 1921, in Gauley Mills, West Virginia to Frank and Hattie Bird. She was raised in Camden-on-Gauley, West Virginia. She graduated from Cowan, West Virginia High School in 1939.
During World War II she and her sisters Edna and Virginia migrated to Akron, Ohio. Margaret worked at Goodyear Aircraft during the war as a "Rosie the Riveter" putting fuel tanks in B-29 Bombers.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, Elva Chapter, and later Billow Chapter.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hattie Bird; husband, Clyde Mullins; brothers, Chilton Bird, John Bird, Herbert (Irish) Bird, Amos Bird; sisters, Virginia (Shaffer) Williams, Georgia Slade, Edna Bird, and Frankie (Hinkle) Rodabaugh.
She is survived by son, Rick (Carol) Mullins; grandchildren, Jeff (Jennifer) Mullins, Jim (Sharon) Mullins, and Jodi (Tony) Donofrio; and great-grandchildren, Julia, Ashley, John, Amanda, Abby, and Emily.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 10-12 followed by a 12 noon funeral service with Pastor Zac Derr officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park, 1035 Canton Rd., Akron.
