Marianna Hamrick

Marianna Hamrick passed away on November 28, 2023 at the age of 80. She was born on August 22, 1943 in Akron, Ohio to the late William Harold and Kathryn Homeier. She attended Our Lady of the Elms High School where she was the first National Merit Scholar in the history of the school. After graduation, she attended the University of Akron where she earned her degree in English and met her future husband, Doy A. Hamrick. At the University she belonged to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Doy; and siblings, William Homeier and Sandra White.

Survivors include her children, Katie Costello (Matt Eve), DJ and Chris Hamrick; grandchildren, Madison (Brandon) and Dashiell (Abel) Costello; siblings, Susan (Tim) Kling and Claudia Dicks; and brothers-in-law, Gary, Terry (Rita) and Mendel (Mary) Hamrick.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH) on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 1pm until 3pm.
