Marie Jane "Trudy" Worrells, 91, passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2021, with special niece and caregiver Karen Porter, close friend Jan Haverlick and her favorite hospice caregiver Sonet by her side.
Trudy was born April 28, 1930 in Akron, Ohio and was a lifelong resident. In addition to her parents Elmer and Lucy (Delaney) Cull, Trudy was preceded in death by husband Richard; daughters Linda "Patty" and Peggy; sisters Barbara, Josephine and Mary; brothers William, Gerald and Charles; and special sister-in-law Helen Worrells. She will be sadly missed by her sister Shirley Cotton of Twinsburg. Also left to grieve her are many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors and her beloved dog Cody.
Trudy was employed as a waitress at several well-known restaurants (Iacomini's, Triple Crown and Prestwick Country Club) in her earlier years. She never met a stranger. Trudy loved line dancing, playing cards, Dancing with the Stars, attending concerts in the parks and spending time with her family. She was a Prime Timers member and a member of Al-Anon for 45 years.
Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, December 13, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. The family asks that anyone attending to respectfully wear a mask. Those who wish may make a memorial donation in Trudy's name to the Humane Society of Summit County or a charity of their choice.
